Author
Louisa Oberholzer has many years of experience teaching in a Waldorf classroom. In addition to the role of class teacher she worked as a teacher trainer, which included mentoring teachers, observing them in their classrooms and encouraging them to find creative new ideas.
For nearly two decades she worked for the Federation of Waldorf Schools in South Africa, and in that time developed an interest in guiding the teaching of literacy in the classroom. She has written a literacy series that focuses on grammar, writing, speech, handwriting, spelling and reading. Although written for Waldorf schools, these books can enliven English teaching in any Primary School, bringing creative ideas for Grammar concepts, practical activities that are fun to apply in the classroom and poetry that will enhance lessons.
Louisa has a particular interest in speech and the role it plays as an important skill of the teacher in the classroom. She created workshops on creative speech and writing and facilitated two conferences to celebrate language as an art.
Louisa offers workshops to schools on aspects covered in these books, as well as mentoring sessions for individual teachers. This includes responding to questions and providing lesson materials when needed.
